Lumecca IPL Photofacial

Transform Your Skin

Lumecca IPL treatment reduces discolorations in the skin caused by sun damage, aging, or vascular changes.

Lumecca is a powerful intense pulse light (IPL) treatment created by Inmode. This treatment addresses skin discolorations including sunspots, age spots, freckles, rosacea, or vascular lesions. The innovative technology targets the pigmented cells (those with melanin) and vascular irregularities with specific wavelengths of light. The light energy is absorbed by these pigmented areas and it is broken down then is eliminated by the body’s natural healing process. The IPL treatment also recognizes the hemoglobin in vascular irregularities as a target. These are also broken down and eliminated by the skin’s healing process.

Why Choose Lumecca IPL?

Features of the Lumecca make it a popular choice. It provides fast results and patients may see noticeable improvements after just one treatment. More advanced changes may require several treatments. Typically, it takes one to two weeks for the body to heal and clear the pigmented cells after each treatment. Lumecca is non-invasive so there’s no need for surgery or recovery time. It can be used on any area of the body, face, or neck. Lumecca has an added benefit of also stimulating collagen production to improve skin texture and reduce fine lines. Also, the treatment sessions typically only take 30 minutes depending on the area being treated.

What to Expect: Side Effects

Possible side effects include some redness or swelling that tends to be mild but only lasting a few hours to a couple of days. You can see darkening of the pigmentation and the targeted areas before the pigment flexoff or is removed by the body’s own healing system. There may be mild discomfort or stinging sensation during the procedure. Less common side effects can include blistering or changes in skin texture.

Preparing for Your Lumecca IPL Treatment

Pre-treatment recommendations include avoiding sun exposure for at least four weeks before the treatment and use of a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. This includes avoiding the use of tanning beds or self-tanners. Products containing retinoids, glycolic acids, and exfoliants should be avoided one week before the procedure. Staying well hydrated also improves the outcome.

Caring for Your Skin After Treatment

After the treatment, you should apply sunscreen daily using at least an SPF 30. Hot environments such as saunas or hot baths and high-intensity physical activity should be avoided within the first 48 hours post-treatment. Use gentle cleansers and moisturizers and avoid products containing exfoliants or retinoids one week after the procedure.
